With only 4 employees, the Town of Barre Highway and Water Department proudly maintains:

63.65 miles of Town Roads and 19.01 miles of County Roads
26 miles of Public Water Lines
a Pump House (at the intersection of Rts. 98 & 31A)
an Elevated Water Tank (behind the fire hall)
the new Barre Town Park
along with the grounds of 6 cemeteries

The Highway Department provides snow and ice control on all Town and County Roads, as well as seasonal mowing. State Routes 98 and 31A are not included as Town or County Roads. If your mailbox was knocked over by a plow, and you live on a Town or County road, please call 585-589-5100 ext. 2 to report it.

Roads scheduled for repair in the summer of 2008:

Delano Steele Road - resurfaced from Rt. 98 to Old Rt. 98.
Angevine Road - resurfaced from Old Rt. 98 north for 1 mile
